I went to follow a XR unity dev course, mostly to see how the pro industry works here, and I was extremely disappointed. By insisting I got someone to talk, almost reluctantly about cultural applications, but other than that there was a disturbing fascination for AI and or military stuff :(

I’ve been disappointed in the XR community in how they can clearly see artists painting and making art within the internet, *about* the internet, and all they do is scratch their heads and go back to discussing AI on LinkedIn. 💀

If you’re an introvert, the way you engage online and on platforms should probably reflect your real life a little more. If you like peace and quiet irl then going to public game maps all the time is probably going to make you feel tired faster. Why should we treat online different than rl?

Before The Strange Pear gallery changed over for the new month and new showcase, I went back one final time to sit with my art. I wish I could explain how beautiful it is to have the opportunity to share my art in this way and how strangely bittersweet it felt knowing they would be gone.

When game reviewers evaluate titles, they often do it sitting down with a controller in their hands. This evaluation involved physical fighting. It's another level of game reviews entirely and I feel like it's my best work yet.

Movies, comics, and anime to watch if you appreciate my art

I feel this with a passion. I may be tackling this problem in a different way, for myself and my small group of people, from a different angle, at a different time in life, but it's the same. (still finding my own words for it, but this statement helps)

With Immersivism, I feel like I "inherited/found" this art problem--How do you paint the wonder of the internet, an internet people are gradually losing faith in?--and I wanted to help solve that problem. I can't make the internet better but I can evoke a desire to *see* the internet be better.

I believe strongly anymore that it is the responsibility of every denizen of the Internet to keep it cool, human, and to make it weird wherever possible. The past days of the computer being cool might be behind us, but that doesn't mean that we can't carve out cool niches today, imo

Now is not the time to shrink and be invisible. Be loud, be weird, and be highly intellectual about it.

Everywhere I look online now, I see more people getting into experimental painting. Hyper-niche stuff like building 3d imaging programs so they can paint directly onto a mesh by way of a camera/canvas to transport to a UV, or painting to perfectly blend a canvas into a shot of a field.

The internet is a bunch of social websites, games, and platforms that people inhabit and form mental connections between due to friendships and memories made within all of those places. It can never be just one unified platform and that's a good thing.

There have been meetings, concerts, art galleries, panels, and plays happening in virtual worlds for decades now. Decades! One company's platform cutting funding doesn't mean the other platforms and games out there don't exist. It's all the internet and it will continue to be there.
