Oh, in my grumbly post last night i forgot to mention that next week I have not taken any overtime (just some on Monday) because I wanna draw, dammit. :) So look for some streaming this weekend and next week.

If you all have been wondering why ive been so AFK the last month or so, especially after putting so much work into updating my streaming setup and finally getting things really up to snuff... well, the reason is, i've been working 3 to 5 hrs of overtime every weekday to try to pay for some of it :)

Chapter 12 is *wild*, but glorious. I can see how, well, everything, would have been like a bulldozer plowing through a lot of preconceptions. But riots? I think it moved things forward so quickly that the readership would have been stunned into silence.

Around the time that Yuki was revealed as being a magical girl, I got an ABSOLUTELY panic-filled email from someone who was devastated that i had introduced *MAGIC* into Megatokyo. They were upset because they had introduced MT to a lot of people and now felt responsible for exposing people to it.

I always felt bad about that and I still do, but i didn't do it on purpose. People often took the topical reserved nature of my work as a kind of championing of conservative repression. The reality is it's a reflection of my own growth from a severely repressed teenager to... whatever i am now. :)

One other thing i know as well... I had a LOT of conservative fans over the years. Megatokyo was visually reserved compared to excessive panty shots and other sexual overtness in a lot of manga. I also know that over the years more than a few of my conservative fans eventually felt betrayed by MT.

Megatokyo is very mild, cautious and reserved compared to a lot of manga. Partly because of my own suppressed background but i like to be subtle about things - makes the bold things stand out more. I contend that if Chapter 12 came out when the comic was really popular, there would have been RIOTS.

I mean, the one nice thing about Michigan is that we have more of a balance of different powers here that keep the batshit crazy things like this from happening - but in the climate that is brewing in this country, it's really a shame we have to worry about it.
