Blacksky and Northsky have seen record-breaking new signups recently because a significant number of trans, Black, and marginalized users are scared of Bluesky. And the response of Bluesky devs was to meme-ify it as "accerationist decentralization" and celebrate that outcome. What joy? Where?

I understand that it's discouraging that these battles come up again and again and that we never get to permanently just say "NO". But if you want a silver lining, think about how frustrated that makes you feel. They're not the only ones who can do that. We can also refuse to stop asking.

It took a lot of work and time, but after babyfurs called out the site, @furaffinity.net cycled the mod team, updated the ToS, held town halls, and brought in mods from affected communities. And the site is better now than it was. Just.. sayin. It is possible to respond differently to this stuff.

It is on my todo list to start talking to itaku.ee mods about what I could do to help with encouraging more artist migrations there.

Before you had fucked up about 10 times in a row regarding Adult Content and showing your ass about banning harassers like Jesse Singal, you could have introduced subscriptions and SO MANY users would have jumped on it.

I have seen a lot of seriously thoughtful, earnest attempts to engage on this issue, and the Bluesky staff is melting down and acting like they don't exist. Yes, there is some real abuse happening here. It is a choice to dismiss extremely thoughtful critique like this under the same umbrella.

NGL - yes, getting an account ban 5 minutes from now would obviously be bad and would cement that yes, the site is going to destroy NSFW and queer communities.. But it would also objectively be the funniest outcome possible.

I don't support harassment, but it is unambiguously true that literally every single positive decision change this company has made over moderation of trans communities happened because we complained very loudly and persistently to people who did not want to be complained at. Jay is lying.
