A Delaware state trooper was shot and killed in what authorities said was an active shooter situation at a DMV facility in New Castle, Delaware this afternoon. Yet another community devastated by senseless, preventable gun violence. We shouldn’t have to live like this.

In 2025, our volunteers and survivors showed up in hearing rooms, met with lawmakers, and mobilized thousands of supporters to defeat bills that would have forced loaded guns into employee parking lots, blocked states from enforcing federal gun laws, and prohibited future Extreme Risk laws. 🧵

A 15-year-old boy shot and killed his ex-girlfriend’s mother and her two young siblings—ages 9 and 13—at her home in Texas. Domestic violence and gun violence are deeply interconnected, impacting millions of women and families and creating traumatic ripple effects in communities across the country.

Five years ago, a police officer shot & killed Andre Hill while he was leaving a friend’s house. Andre was a beloved brother, father, and grandfather. He was an avid basketball player and talented cook. He was a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, wearing a BLM shirt when he was murdered.

The Trump Administration rolled back Biden-era efforts to hold gun dealers accountable and reassigned roughly 80% of ATF agents to carry out immigration operations. Despite this, states still have many tools at their disposal to reduce gun trafficking and keep communities safe.

Today, in partnership with members of #MayorsAgainstIllegalGuns, we released our Crime Gun Recovery Report. Just four gun manufacturers—Glock, Taurus, Smith & Wesson, and Ruger—produced over half of all guns recovered in crimes in 2024, despite the existence of 6,000+ manufacturers nationwide.

After a shooting in 1996, Australia enacted sweeping gun safety legislation and experienced no public mass shootings for two decades and a significant decrease in firearm deaths. Now, Australian lawmakers are acting again to further protect people from gun violence after this weekend’s shooting.

Guns are the leading cause of death for college-aged people in America—but it doesn’t have to be this way. Our grassroots army of more than 11 million parents, students, survivors, and allies is fighting for a future where our kids can learn, grow, and thrive without fear.

There have been at least 159 shootings at schools in the US in 2025—resulting in 53 deaths and 148 injuries nationally. America’s epidemic of school shootings is a policy choice made by lawmakers who would rather cower to the gun lobby than support gun safety measures that are proven to save lives.

One year ago today, a 15-year-old student armed with a Glock pistol and high-capacity magazines opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, killing 14-year-old freshman Rubi Vergara and 42-year-old Erin Michelle West, a teacher at the school. 🧵

Today was the second day of final exams for Brown University students. Instead of finishing the semester strong, thousands were forced to shelter-in-place while an active shooter stormed the campus. Reports say at least two people were killed, and eight others are in critical, but stable, condition.

A high school wrestler was shot and wounded by a man, who then turned the gun on himself, in a school parking lot early this morning in Stewartville, Minnesota. Authorities said around forty of the victim’s teammates and coaches heard the gunshots.

As of November 21, there were at least 154 incidents of gunfire on school grounds nationally this year, resulting in 49 deaths and 135 injuries. Our young people deserve so much better—they deserve lawmakers who will take common-sense action to keep them safe.

@governor.ny.gov announced that gun violence across 28 New York communities has decreased by 60% since 2021. This dramatic, life-saving progress is thanks in part to a record $3 billion investment in public safety. 👏

De’Jon Darrell Fox Jr., a sophomore at Kentucky State University with a bright future ahead of him, deserved to come home from finals week alive. His mother is heartbroken. “I didn’t think that this was something that I have to worry about while he’s at school.”

UPDATE: 19-year-old De’Jon Fox was killed in the shooting at Kentucky State University, and another student remains in critical condition. Authorities said a parent of a student fired at the victims near a residence hall. This senseless violence is preventable. De’Jon should still be here.
