learning from history does not mean learning to fight the exact same battles your predecessors did in the exact same way. it means learning patterns of actions and behavior to help you notice and adapt better to your own, and also what worked and what mistakes were made by everyone along the way.

you cannot fight for the people and truly hate them at the same time. you cannot wish to abolish state violence, and demand that anyone who has ever made any kind of mistake ever must be banished for life, or harmed. you cannot break free from the system you are helping to perpetuate.
