Belated, but the day after releasing Behind the Hydra's Eyes, I travelled ~250 miles across the UK. Grey clouds holding back a marbled blue, rolling hills of sodden greens and browns, distant ghostly shapes of trees and turbines—omens written in gnarled wood and steel, engines masking whispers.

I will be reading this over Christmas as a festive treat to myself—a chunky 661 page behemoth of archival work. I'd actually been waiting eagerly for it after reading Iskra's other archival collection on the PLO earlier this year, and have my eyes on some of their beautiful poetry collections.

One of those games that stays with you in the best of ways. Tonally one of the most carefully balanced games I've ever played. Amazing work.

My degree touched on this, where I looked specifically at the imposition of slaughterhouses in Vietnam, both as vectors for outbreaks and as important sites of racialisation. 'Slaughterhouse Capitalism' is a very useful term to understand both of these and how they shaped capitalist development.

To wrap it all up-Oscar, the incredible flying Ostrich by @thomashunt.bsky.social and Renato Baroni. Stunning decorations aside, Oscar himself moves and feels incredible while you're holding the controller, leading to his many stunts feeling very satisfying. Hilariously written, one to look out for

To the right, we had another important game proudly presenting Palestine and support groups-The Activists. While not on itch, the game does an incredible job to put the players in the shoes of people that are capable and want to make a change. Break into a weapons factory and disrupt the status quo

EXTRA special shout out to the two games our stall was sandwiched between, which were both centred themselves around Palestine, with Cagla focusing on the importance of memory and the deep roots of history, while Rebecca considers the necessity of direct action and internationalism. 🇵🇸✊

I think (totally unbiased lol) that our game is full of really great writing. The dialogue option that this is part of is probably one of my favourites though. Living in Britain is pretty brutal, unless you protect yourself with a veil of ignorance. Let the veil fall: fight the hydra, find hope!
