I had missed this: In a small, rural Iowa county, Floyd County, a Democrat won one of the three seats on the county's board of supervisors tonight. He ousted the Republican who'd been appointed to replace the Republican supervisor who passed away.

I wrote a thread years ago about one of the most urgent tasks for Democrats perhaps being to usher the United States off the world stage. I stand by my old thoughts, and see nothing wrong with the post below.

It is fully irresponsible to argue for an American return to global leadership. This country is deeply unwell and has no business leading anything until that's no longer the case. There's a whole world out there capable of tending to the world's problems. We must tend to ours.

One day these people will get what they deserve.
