I think, as an extension of Olivia's point, that in order to produce a satisfying ambiguous ending, the author needs to earn the trust of the reader throughout the book. If we fumble the body of the book, an ambiguous ending will feel like a mistake, or cop out instead of thought-provoking.

I absolutely love this explanation. First-first draft is where I start the story, stumble, then realise what needs to change for the story to feel right. This gets tossed completely to an archived folder. (delete nothing!) Second-first draft is where the story flows start to finish.

Yep. This is the 3rd time they've targeted small authors' income in a matter of months. First they upped the minimum income before payout. Then they cut the amount they pay out per sale under the guise of 'consolidating' percentages. Now this. 1 = accident, 2 = coincidence, 3 = deliberate action

I was privileged enough to be a beta reader on this one, and as someone who has to manage disability and pain on a life-long basis... I. Fucking. LOVE. IT. Disabled badass energy is something we need more of.
