Tales Of combat is always so odd to me in every game I try. It feels like one of those things where fans just develop generational muscle memory, like playing through different entries in the same fighting game series. I’m sure it will click eventually, or at least feel more natural.

Finished Detective Instinct. A short but sweet experience that definitely lives up to its inspirations. Feels right at home among games like Famicom Detective Club. The art and the music was all stellar. I hope there’s a sequel someday, I’d love to see Emma and the protagonist as a duo again.

The thing I like about the Octopath games that 0 immediately betrays and seems to only double down on is that the main characters aren’t special. Each character is moving through their own life and problems. A single protagonist who is a Chosen One is the exact opposite of that lmao

I’m not immune to having the Octopath 1 party as party members in 0 but also it does leave me confused about how far back the events of this game are. Also I guess that this is technically the first adventure these people all went on with each other prior to 1 but that’s just prequels I guess

Octopath 0 is bumming me out a little bit I’m not gonna lie, or at the very least the path of wealth is not a good first showing of what I can expect from the story
