Scale brush madness update: have reached a skill level where I find the first couple I made embarrassing because I know better ways to achieve the effect I was going for

Making procreate brushes is turning into a tribble situation. Every time I make one I learn something about how they function and immediately think of something else to experiment with which produces another one

I got a small cheap clipper as a Christmas gift to myself and used it to trim Historian’s ridiculous toe fluff (it tracks cat litter crumbs everywhere) - I would describe Historian’s reaction to the clipper as “mildly indignant”

Sometimes I still think about a website I used to visit back around 2000 that had polls regularly and one day the poll question was “Have you ever unknowingly swallowed an eyelash?” There was only one option to vote for “I don’t know”

Today’s random memory: when I was a kid or teen when me and my mom rode the bus, my mom would always take the window seat, but that meant she had to pull the cord to request a stop. She was too ADHD to pay attention to landmarks out the window for half an hour so I needed to tell her when to pull it

Finally a day below 40F - finally it is the time of year when I sniffle in my mask at the store and people suddenly realize they need to be in a different aisle

I decided to make a fish scale procreate brush and then got addicted so I have three of them now. I guess there are worse ways to spend Christmas.

Decided to get some barbecue duck from a Chinese restaurant in this neighborhood which was an excellent idea. It was weirdly nostalgic. I think by happenstance the last time I had duck seasoned this way I was 12 or something.

I live on the bottom floor of an apartment building so upstairs noises are my normal, but I’m on the second floor of my friend’s two story house and there are ceiling noises and it’s freaking me out. It’s VERY windy so that’s probably why. Ya better watch out ya better watch out ya better watch out

House sitting. I forgot to pack molasses for my oatmeal and the local store doesn’t have it. I’m gonna try using piloncillo (which they did have) instead. Little bitty cooking side quest.

Historian (the cat) is so good about being in a carrier and traveling… as long as my hand is in her carrier. No hand? Time to scream like the souls of the damned.

Today's random memory: The time me and my father were visiting my mother's home town and we visited a thrift store. I was about 14. The store owner found me while I was separated from my dad, mentioned hearing about me (the town's that small) and asked my name. So far so normal

Considering the whole idea of internal monologue: how often do you think the discussion among comic artists about how to depict thinking (thought balloon, narration box, thought balloon with drawing in it, etc.,) is people with different internal experiences with thought talking past each other

I've been slowly reducing the sugar in my oatmeal and finally took the last step of only sweetening it with molasses and a few raisins. While this flavor profile is still somewhat sweet, it's savory enough that a bite of it with a bite of fried egg is really nice.

There was a guy on trax playing a string instrument I didn’t recognize- the body was as wide as the neck at first but fanned out at the bottom, whole thing the size of a ukulele. Was a pleasant change of pace on a night when I had to rush off to a doctors appointment with only 5 hours of sleep

When I woke up today the building door was propped open and it stayed that way even hours later, so I suspect the door lock just doesn't work for ANYONE. I'm not awake during business hours so I gotta hope everyone else handles it in the meantime.

For some unknown reason my keyfob didn't work to let me into the building so I got locked outside at 6AM when it's 34 degrees and I was only wearing slides because I was only taking out the trash. I got back in through the window but if I hadn't left it unlocked I would have been screwed.

I have discovered if I toast my oatmeal really really thoroughly and dark, I can cause my mom to ask if I made cookies every time I microwave a portion for breakfast

Last night I was talking in Jay's stream about my tendency to give characters siblings because I find family drama interesting and when I went to bed I was thinking about if I have any only child characters (yes) but then thought about the character's other family and oops I need a chart again

Update on the "merry fucking christmas" ornament: I made it the centerpiece of a wreathe and hung it on our door. We're not planning to do a tree so this is how the one single ornament we have will be living its best life this month.

Today's random memory: Near my childhood neighborhood there was an apartment complex well known to everyone for being *the* place to dumpster dive. The renters there tended to be higher income and only there for a couple years, so when they moved they didn't take *anything* with them

I tried to go to the store despite still being sore from that one really packed day, but my rear bike wheel came misaligned and I was unable to get it on stuck out on the road so I had the drag it home. So I’m more tired but still do not have groceries fuck me I guess

I still think about the time I was considering li/nux and someone on here I'd never spoken to or interacted with before and who didn't follow me popped into my mentions to tell me she didn't want to be expected to do tech support for me.
