I know the pixel remaster exists, but I'm about to give the og version of Final Fantasy III with a fan translation patch a spin. I dunno, I just really like the look and sound and feel of the original 8-bit version of these games, even if there's some jank to deal with (which adds its own charm).

Gosh... My relationship with video games has changed so much in recent years. I don't think I can blame it on choice paralysis from an overwhelming backlog or depression or whatever. I think I just straight-up do not enjoy games the same way anymore.

Kinda wanna replay the last two big 2d Mario games and compare 'em again. Super Mario Bros. Wonder has some fun mechanics and visuals, but it didn't wow me the way it did everyone else. After I beat it, I revisited NSMBU and I felt like it had tighter level design and a more engaging overworld.

Sad to say it but I have to skip Metroid Prime 4. At this point in my life, my personal bandwidth for games is so limited. If I'm unsure of a game, to play it means to gamble my time. And Prime 4 doesn't feel like a good gamble compared to other games on my radar that I already know I'll like.

I am impressed with FFXIV for how much I love everyone in the main cast. With a party that big, it's near impossible for an RPG to make every single one of them so dear to me. Even in the Persona games, there's always one or two members I could take or leave.
