Argentrock Isle is under construction!

With The Lost Vale, we are working with Sheri to ensure that our implementation of it in U8 Exult is as authentic as we can make it. This means we will avoid adding things and making new creative decisions any time we don't have to. With all its flaws, you'll play Lost Vale as it was, mostly.

ULTIMA 8: EXULT UPDATE: -Sheri Graner Ray, the main mind behind The Lost Vale gave us a map sketch! -Tenebrae's named NPCs are now in! -TheGrayWanderer, is hard at work developing our dialog code. -We now have a private github repository. Once we have releases, it will all be fully open sourced.

Something new, originally planned but unseen in the original Ultima 8, is under construction in Tenebrae, north of the palace. What could it be?

Ultima 8: Exult update: The Tenebrae city walls are complete after an agonizingly long, painstaking process. Now there are only 3 buildings left in Tenebrae to build out in the structural phase. The environment, foliage etc looks plain since that all comes later. Pics are of course WIP.

Ultima 8: Exult update. I spent 8 hours straight building the southern half of the Tenebrae city wall. Designing it to look exactly the same with the same proportions. It was brutal and painstakingly slow to make it look authentic.

Ultima 8: Exult is coming along pretty nicely! Tenebrae's structural pass, where we build all the facades and basic architecture, is almost done. It's looking fantastic already. East Tenebrae, and the city walls need to be finished. And yes, we need to build the city park with the Hydros shrine.

Some buildings from East Tenebrae in Ultima 8: Exult. Darion's house and his training hall, now separate buildings as in the original Tenebrae map. Tarna's house, now featuring an armory room. And that weird lake building that was unused due to the game being unfinished.

Work on East Tenebrae has begun. Aramina's house is built, now moving on to Darion's house and training hall! Which, as we are having some influence from an earlier, bigger version of the Tenebrae map, means Darion's training hall is actually a building across the road! The map is attached!

The structures of West Tenebrae are FINISHED! Palace is also DONE. Now for East Tenebrae!

Ultima 8 Exult news: Tenebrae is now fully under construction! Soon, the whole city's exteriors will be built, including the palace and city walls. Also, if you are an Ultima Dragon or a big fan of Pagan and want your face to be a portrait, DM me!

There hasn't been an update on my Ultima 8: Pagan remake in a while as I was on vacation and having a wedding. So here's an update! Building out the world for U8: Exult, or Pagan: Exulted Edition as I like to call it has been fun. I can officially confirm it will, however, be OPEN WORLD.

I backed this on Kickstarter and it's shaping up to be great! As always, a great piece of art from Denis Loubet as well.

Agentorangeguy assisted me to totally overhaul the basic usecode & headers so that the code fundamentals of U8 Exult are all in order. For many, this is a boring and uninteresting piece of news, but it's a big step forward. Also, the initial conversation with Devon is pretty much fully implemented.

Happy 2025, friends! Ultima 8: Exult became official in September, a s hort break on work during Christmas & new year. 2025 will be the first full year of work on U8 Exult, or Pagan: Exulted Edition as I like to call it. Building out the full Sorceror's Enclave now!

The basic layout of Tenebrae in Ultima 8: Exult has been altered to be more in line with the official cloth map of Pagan. So it's a bit more open. However, we recently found this design map of Tenebrae on the Codex. Thinking of using elements from it to tweak the Tenebrae layout further. Thoughts?

When The Guardian finds the Avatar floating in the ether, he is wearing the Serpent Armor. And yet when The Guardian drops him into Pagan it seems as if The Guardian has decided to change the Avatar's clothes. Ultima 8 Exult will fix this with visual continuity in the armor. Here's a sneak preview!

Thanks to agentorangeguy, we have a way to jump in Ultima 7 now. Will it be implemented in U8 Exult? Probably, but the dungeons will not be built around jumping like they were in the OG game.
