Well, it appears I can now tell you what it's like to dislocate your leg. 0/10 do NOT recommend. I'm alright now, just walking a little awkwardly.

Looks like the end of the year is gonna be a bit F-ed for me. The usual Christmas dinner ain't happening and I'll likely by myself at New Year's too. Gonna be a contemplative one this year.

Never be ashamed of asking people for help, it's possibly the most powerful thing we have as human beings! This isn't a singleplayer game, it's co-op multiplayer and there's 8 billion people out there that know stuff you don't. Just ask! 🙏

Game idea: You are an 8 year old heir to a throne and your monarch parents just died. Now a group of NPC advisors has to explain to you in layman's terms how to run the country. On top of that, since you're only 8, it's hard to be taken seriously. The game would be about the emancipation of a child.

Ok, the good news: Everything that was in storage is now finally at home with me. The bad news: I'm gonna have to sort out all of these boxes now and give everything a place in my house!

The the neighbour's backyard is a pile of ashes now. It became clear that, had I not been awake and called the fire dept. his house, and mine, would have likely caught fire. This happened around 2 AM-ish so if I wasn't a night-crawler I might have been dead now.

Game idea: MMO eco-system manager. The players are terraformers in the late stage of a planet's terraforming effort. You made rivers, seas, plants, and insects already. Now it's time to build out the eco-system further. The game world runs its fauna in simulation & players must ensure balance. 1/3

Game idea: A game that happens in 2 repeating stages. Stage 1 is a practice stage that lasts 30 minutes. Stage 2 is a testing phase lasting a single fight. During the practice stage, you can practice anything from a list for 30 minutes after which you have to go to phase 2. 1/3

Hey everyone. I need a game recommendation. I am looking for a sandboxy game that is easy to use, has low stakes, is about silly fun, and doesn't require a large time investment to get into. I like the idea of games like Stellaris, but in practice they feel very impenetrable to me.

Game idea: Game where physics and lighting is as realistic as we can make it, but an NPC in the game starts noticing where the simulation is different from real life and brings this up with the player. The player then has to choose how to handle this NPC. If mis-managed, they could go insane.

I got Ghost of Tsushima ages ago but never got around to playing it until now and... WOW is this game beautiful! I could totally do a whole game of just traveling the Japanese countryside visiting onsen, temples, and writing haiku. Even without all the fighting this game is great!

The best video game accessibility feedback comes from people who use different accessibility features daily. Include them in your testing. Design with, not just for, players.

I wanted to clear my fridge which resulted in an unusual pizza with tomato, olives, pesto, and... pickles, with a truffle sauce drizzled on top. I'm happy, if very surprised, to report that pickle on pizza actually works!

I find it most interesting that, by walking away during a Netanyahu speech, our leaders at the UN are using the same people power that we at ground-level have to rely on. Even at the top, that's still our primary weapon. The ability to agree and stand (or walk) as one.

The 'loss state' in games is over-used. Part of what makes choices interesting in real life is that, win or lose, you go forward regardless whether you want to or not. In games, this means no more blockages. You can fail, but you can't stop going forward. THAT loss matters.

Me and LLMs have something in common: We both spend a lot of time looking for pleasing words because when we get it wrong, people get upset with us and try to shut us down or change us.

"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.

I love how Bluesky became a second chance at building the culture of a social media site. The community kinda seemed to go "Ok, what bits do we want to keep, and what do we want to change?" and then they actually went and did it. It's kinda beautiful.

It's been a while. Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.

Because some people haven't heard it yet: PAYPAL IS NOT A BANK, DO NOT LEAVE MORE THAN A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS SITTING IN YOUR ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME. MOVE IT TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY. Paypal can and will close your account and steal all your money without warning. And have done MANY times.

Do you know what is worse for your game than making a bad decision? To not make any decision out of fear.

Game idea: You play a cartoonishly evil bad guy who creates and controls armies of some kind. They can also create a super-unit, but they must pilot it themselves. When not piloting a super-unit, they re-locate to their hidden base via teleport and can't be directly killed. 1/2

Game idea: Take FromSoft's "everything is connected" type of world-design, but make it circular. There should be many ways to make a circle through this world, but every time you do, you level up. It's a more gradual 'new game +' that you can keep doing as long as you like.

I finally installed my equipment into my new studio & I'm really surprised by how the room treats the sound! It's bigger here, and emptier, so the whole room reverberates freely! The walls will be getting treatment in the future because direct sound is better, but this has a certain je ne sais quoi.

There's no anomaly here. People, globally, volunteer their time to powerful public goods the moment they're not actively terrified that they'll lose their home, their food, and their freedom. Which means that capitalism requires us all to live in fear, always - because it can't compete with free.
