Also, to say something inaccurate is a mistake & to apologize & correct is acceptable. But to say or repeat something known to be inaccurate is a lie. Someone who lies persistently is a liar. It does not violate (in my opinion, misguided) journalistic neutrality to call lies lies and liars liars.
