To be clear, you can’t cancel Grijalva’s vote even if you add another Republican member to the House. The discharge petition just needs 218 signatures. It has 217 right now. Grijalva will provide the last one. The only hiccup would be if one of the current signatory takes their name off.

This whole standoff about not seating Grijalva is odd. Even when she's seated AND signs the discharge petition AND it ripens and comes to the floor AND the House passes it, it still has to go to the Senate -- where it will not be taken up -- and even then it would get vetoed. So...why the stall?

Here’s an argument for Dems voting next week to reopen the government. The current House-passed CR only extends to November 21. If deals aren’t made on extension of healthcare subsidies, it just closes again Nov 22.

Once again, House Democrats tried to be recognized by Rep. Russ Fulcher, who was chairing the pro forma session, to force the swearing in of Rep-elect Grijalva. He refused.

Yesterday, Speaker Johnson announced that the House would have another week off, in the middle of a shutdown. Why? Because coming into session means seating Rep.-elect Grijalva, who won special election in Arizona…and would be the 218th signature on the Epstein discharge petition.

There seems to be some confusion about the state of play with government funding bills in Congress. There are 12 yearly spending bills. The House has passed 3 of 12. The Senate has passed 3 of 12. The deadline was October 1.

There’s something highly satisfying about seeing your children excel at what they’ve chose to do with their lives. Extraordinarily proud mom right now.
