As from today,#7PartidasDigital project comes to its end. It’s was born 11 years ago, when I came across a bunch of ms. fragments. We’ve raised the list of known copies from 80 up to over 100. We’ve located stolen mss. We’ve learnt to use HTR, even built our own #eScriptorium server.

I just (re)discovered a privilege issued by Sancho IV in 1285 (it originally belonged to the Archivo de Osuna, and a modern copy exists in the Archivo Histórico Nacional). The original was sold at some point and ended up in a big US university. Its most remarkable feature is Sancho's lead seal.

This was more entertaining to write than most articles I've written, and it's finally out. doi.org/10.14198/ita...

Joy the world! At @uva-es.bsky.social we have trained a model that runs in eScriptorium. It deals with Gothic Print in Spanish. It performs as good as our model for @transkribus.bsky.social does. Left eScriptorium, right Transkribus. The good new is that it can develop abbreviations, and mark them.

After a bit of a delay, we are beginning final production on A Companion to Don Juan Manuel, which will appear via @degruyterbrill.bsky.social (under the Brill's series of Companions to Medieval Literatures and Cultures).

It is nice when you get help from librarians of the past, like this one, who drew the outline of the watermark in a folio of the Spanish translation of the first book of Jean Froissart's Chroniques.

This is what happens when you take a side quest way too seriously. It is not quite finished yet, but here it is, a working edition of Nieremberg's translation of Sancho IV's Lucidario. I have no idea of what to do with it.

Next Tuesday a I’ll be speaking at Ca’ Foscari about incunabula typesetters as source of dialectological info. At present we have a huge dataframe (> 10 M rows by 7 columns and still growing) that holds some 80 Spanish incunabula PoS tagged and lemmatized.
