I sometimes about Peter Jackson’s portrayal of Tolkiens works - why are all the Elves hardened badasses, but most of the Dwarves seemingly comic relief?

It was so nice to hear Terry’s voice again. No matter if talking about Mage, Invisible Sun, or chatting with others, it was a joy listen to him. I really miss his takes on Mage right now. Especially now.

My father-in-law is just a few days from passing. The toughest man I've ever met, he survived being blown up in a mine and multiple cancers. It took a literal mountain of medical conditions in swift succession to finally bring this titan down. Swift journey's my friend. You will be missed.

Imagine doing this for a franchise when we need to clean up continuity - having a scholar from the future review the footage, critique the portrayal and lament about how they “got it all wrong”

I so want this movie to be made

I am going to say something controversial, but if we get a M5, I really want it to be a reboot. Specifically I’d like it to mesh with V5 and W5. If that means altering the concepts of Paradox and Consensus so be it.

Prior to V5, we all knew that each WoD game was set in a parallel dimension that had similarities to each other. But I am convinced that the same goes for each edition of Mage the Ascension.

One of the things I really was disappointed was stripping the Tribes of their historical roots in Werewolf the Apocalypse 5e. Oh W20 had issues, but V20 had them too - while there was an effort to correct them in V5, in W5 they were just excised. The Tribes now feel very sterile to me.

@pugsteady.com I have a Pugmire question - I get that it’s hinted that Mancers (like the other “magic” callings like Artisan and Shepherd) get their abilities from nanites. But where do Ministers get their mojo from? Any hints in the text have gone over my head…

Though Star Frontiers was the first game I played, the first one I bought was the original (not revised) version of Heroes Unlimited…

I watched it again recently and yeah, I still like it. I mean, there are things I wouldn’t have done, sure, but every SW movie is like that for me. TLJ tried to do something different with the tropes of the Skywalker Saga and I’ll always respect that.

Okay I might get some grief but still like TLJ. Oh, it’s a flawed movie but of all the Sequels, it was the one that tied to do something different with the tropes of the Skywalker Saga, and for that alone it earns my respect.

I was one of them. Stuck in a small town, my ability to play RPGs was inconsistent. I bought A LOT of White Wolf in the 90’s specifically to read, because the World of Darkness fascinating to my then-sheltered mind.

As @clovermouse.bsky.social can attest, our bonkers supers campaign had successive Santas. Odin was holder of the Essence of Christmas until he was eaten by Scar (yes, that one). It’s currently held by the Wizard Shazam. Not sure who will be Santa in our time-jumped sequel…

Sometimes your love of something is rooted in things already past. There is a time when a franchise ceases to provide you things you enjoy. While I liked Strange New Worlds well enough, I am not really interested the Picard-era or 31st Century Trek. Maybe its time to give Trek a rest for now...

I am really struggling to understand the underlying reasons for the metaplot events in the current (6th) edition of Shadowrun, especially since some core sourcebooks have already been released. Seems like something that should have been done at the end of last edition... unless 7e is in the cards.

There is a sweet spot in games for me: I want a robust rule system to run a game but not so many rules that it becomes the centerpoint of that game, if you get my meaning.

To continue my thought from another thread: Continuity, especially in games, serves as a framework of understanding between the gamemaster and the players. Its simply a tool and not holy writ. What King Bob did 1000 years ago is not as important as what your players are doing now.

I am finding it easier to treat ALL lore-dumps as first person narration. Because, narrators can have skewed opinions, mislead, or are just mistaken about facts. Its easier to reinterpret the lore than work around it.

And you will never make it all fit - the longer a franchise goes, the harder it is to reconcile everything. Sure, if you need to, make the big slabs of continuity reconcile with each other, but you'll never make all the little bits of lore and minutiae fit. In there lies madness.
