I presented this morning at the FDA meeting on Generative Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Digital Mental Health Medical Devices on our work evaluating chatbots purporting to provide therapy (dl.acm.org/doi/pdf/10.1...). We find chatbots often give incorrect and potentially dangerous responses 1/

It takes a lot of training to conduct surveys, interviews, and other experiments with human subjects in a manner that is replicable, ethical, clear, doesn't accidentally introduce confounders. I very often see mistakes and lack of documentation in CV and ML papers using human annotators.
