This is true of many Conservative anti-Trump commentators. They have two working foundations: 1. MAGA is only fascistic in things that they, personally believe go to far (ie they can’t be fascistic). 2. Nothing of their beliefs foster or enable fascism.

The reason we aren’t in a full-fledged Nazi theocracy is thankfully most Americans are very opposed to it. The reason French can’t admit what the admin is trying to do has pushed us close to full fascism is the same reason he can’t admit it was birthed by the US conservative movement.
