Labor Day was spent laboring. Nostalgia Ink acquired a massive collection of about 70,000 comic books. While there are no major key books, we have uncovered some good stuff. Thank you to everyone who helped unload the truck.

Was really not sure what to expect from a title like White House Robot Romance, but the first issue is good. Really good. You should definitely pick it up on 9/3!

Hello, comics retailers! If you're not already aware Diamond announced that they have immediately discontinued the authorized returns program. If you're like me, I had stopped ordering returnables some time ago, but there were still a few titles that never got authorized.

Nostalgia Ink is hosting another used game sale this weekend. Lots of cool stuff came in, including a number of out of print gems and bundles only available through crowdfunding. And there's still a sales tax holiday in Ohio. It's a great weekend to pop in.

For two weeks in a row my order cut off for Diamond Comics is $0.00. This is getting really bad.

Publishers are not being paid by Diamond Comics. Nostalgia Ink will cease new purchasing from Diamond Comics until this is rectified. This includes the liquidation sales that have already begun.

I am so done with these parasites.

Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Peter David. While I never got the opportunity to meet him, his work, especially on Hulk, was transformative to me in how I viewed comic book stories. Certainly one of the all time great writers who seemed able to do it all. Condolences to his family.

Since Nostalgia Ink is coming up on 1 year of the big re-opening, I thought I would take a moment to answer a frequently asked question -- what are some new titles that would be easy to jump into and are great to read? This is not an exhaustive list, but all of these launched in the past year --

If you are a comics retailer using Diamond Comics' point of sale and / or Pullbox services, you should back up all your data today as a precaution. The Pullbox data can all be downloaded into Excel spreadsheets. It appears all the tech support working on those services were laid off. :(

Bug Wars running for more than 6 issues is terrific news. A fantastic series so far. @jason-aaron.bsky.social's world building is fantastic and it looks like @mahmudasrar.bsky.social is having way too much fun on the artwork. It's a great combo.

My copies arrived early and I got to read the first issue of Exquisite Corpses. The first issue is loads of set up and world building, but we do get a bit of early payoff with the promise of loads of bloodshed. The best way I can describe it is a sort of Squid Game for serial killers. Don't miss out

For the first time since before Thanksgiving, our Diamond Comics shipment will arrive on time. I'm hoping this is a new trend and not the exception.

I was just talking about this series with a customer and did not realize the compendium was arriving in July! (I thought it was going to be closer to September.) This is a great series that will not disappoint. Get it pre-ordered at your favorite comic shop!

Absolute Batman #7. That @bsienk.bsky.social cover is absolute fire!

Hi! I did not realize anyone had these hard covers out there somewhere. $50 for all 3 is an amazing bargain, and if you have never read this series, you really should. It's brilliant. It will leave you guessing at what is really happening. And...that ending.

My first exposure to Beasts of Burden was "What the Cat Dragged In," a disturbing tale that has stuck with me. Naturally, I needed to read everything that came before that (and after) and have never been disappointed. $30 for everything is an amazing bargain. It's funny, terrifying and heartbreaking

The director's cut of Dark City elevated an already amazing film. I rewatched it recently and it holds up extremely well. Probably my favorite sci-fi film. Dark City is anything but "messy." Independence Day, on the other hand, is a colossal mess, but I'll eat that up any day.

Excited to see how this series ends. It's a terrific dystopian book with a great protagonist and immersive world building. You have time to get caught up with the trade paperbacks!

I just sat down and read Bug Wars #1. It's wild. It's weird. It's exciting. It's a lot of fun. Comics are supposed to be fun, right? This is a blast.

I always recommend this series to fans of good horror comics. It's terrifying, creepy and spooky as well as at times being hilarious. And if you let your guard down it will crush your soul. The Hellboy guest appearance is amazing. We'll have copies in stock soon!

Reminder that the BEASTS OF BURDEN OMNIBUS ships next month from @darkhorse.com. All the stories done so far in one book (inc 3 Eisner Winners), only $30 for nearly 600 pages of dogs and cats (and sometimes a raccoon. Oh, and HELLBOY once, which was nuts) vs the supernatural. You kinda need this.

Because Diamond shipments arrive late we just got out copies of You Won't Feel a Thing #1 by @ssnyder1835.bsky.social and Jock (the same team that brought us Wytches). It's a great start to a horror series. Maybe not as creepy as Wytches (tough to live up to) but a solid killer on the loose story.

Nostalgia Ink still has first printings of #1 in stock. Do not sleep on this comic! The first issue by @charlessoule.bsky.social and @ryanbrowne.bsky.social sets up a ton of potential mayhem. Both Curse Words and Eight Billion Genies were terrific, and The Lucky Devils is off to a great start!

Found in the wild at Giant Liquors in Maineville, OH. They also have it in Mason. Have heard Jungle Jim's also carries it. As someone who dislikes IPAs, this is a really good beer.

With the 2nd hard cover of Manifest Destiny releasing tomorrow, I started rereading the series to freshen up my memory. I'm pleasantly reminded of just how great this series was, and I can't wait to finish reading it

How do we really know Batman smells? Are there reasonable witnesses that can attest to this, or are we just taking Joker's word on this? He seems untrustworthy.

Going from comics to other media isn't as easy as it looks. This is a terrific (and rather long) article. I believe Aftershock fell into this black hole and have not published any new comics in close to two years.

We will have copies of this beautiful book when it releases. It's funny, it's exciting, and it has some moments where it will swallow your soul. The storytelling here is remarkable.

Glad to see Flying Frog make the jump to here. We are one of the few (if not the only) store in the Cinci area carrying Shadows of Brimstone, a terrific dungeon crawling game. Since reopening we've slowly been rebuilding the number of SKUs on our shelves.

Since our reopening this past June, there have been so many good or great new comics series that launched. The Absolute books, a good chunk of the X-Men relaunch, Falling In Love On the Path to Hell come to mind. But I think Power Fantasy written by @kierongillen.bsky.social has eclipsed them all.

All, this is a very good time to get Lucky Devils on your preorder lists! The first issue is fun, and if the series is even half as good as Eight Billion Genies, it's going to be worth reading.

This is an amazing new(ish) title from Image Comics. Excellent creative team with some big ideas and near-perfect execution. We have all 4 issues in stock (though some are reprints).

We're now carrying a new game by a local game designer called Big Chicken. This strategic card game is a mishmash of Hearts, Poker and Uno. (I'm told it will be coming to Kickstarter within the next year.)

Too many good books tomorrow. Is that a problem? Uncanny X-Men #5 written by @gailsimone.bsky.social is great. Amazing Spider-Man #61 by Joe Kelly and Ed McGuiness is the change of direction I was hoping for. And Absolute Batman #2 by @ssnyder1835.bsky.social and Nick Dragotta is a wild ride.
