I haven’t been a fly on the wall for the last 250 years; I don’t know if my country was EVER what it told me it was. But we are the huddled masses; WE built this country, for power-hungry lying thieves. WE built it. We can build a new one - the one we thought we had - without them. #stonesoup

If we take nothing else from these events, it should be that we clearly do not need government; we functionally don’t have one now. Imagine what a wonderful country we could build if we didn’t have to defend ourselves from our “government”.

I think we’ve all been hoping for a peaceful resolution and a return to “normal”. But “normal” is what got us here. Let’s work for a good resolution instead, and a shift into something far different from the normal we’ve been tolerating.

What's next? Here's some information from Erica Chenoweth's research. "...contemporary movements tend to over-rely on mass demonstrations while neglecting other techniques—such as general strikes and mass civil disobedience—that can more forcefully disrupt a regime’s stability."

They already have our money, our safety, our freedom, our data - we’re already all on a “list”. They have no loyalty; there is no “club”. And, as they reminded us, in the end we all die. All our fears have already come true. So we have nothing to lose.

I’ve been listening to Remnants by @hangingsloth.bsky.social; I see the wretched parallels between WWII and what’s happening in my country today. So Remnants gives me hope. Good people prevailed then, and we will now, however bitter the struggle. And we’ll tell our stories to the future.

The people fight and die in wars; the people do the work and earn the money. Why are we waiting for a “better” government? We’ve built this world on our backs. We defend it with our lives. Why do we consent to be governed, and pay for services no longer provided? This land is OUR land.
