The surreal way Fujimoto uses Alleyways in his character's psyches in Chainsaw Man is one of the coolest things. It feels like he's taken the unwelcoming world of Nihei's brutalist landscapes and turned them into narrow, shadowy, walkways of death and attempted escapism.

Their trauma dimensions are overlapping. This is extra neat given Denji and Asa's personal traumas have been shown as a alleyway like this, its tight and claustrophobic, uninviting, and far from society. A nice way to embody the isolation that can come with a lasting trauama.

While I feel Fujimoto relies pretty heavy on the iaijutsu dash attack, when he does it well he does it masterfully. The motion on display, the two panels dedicated to their weapons like a western film focusing on the eyes or holsters of the gunmen, right before the money shot!
