Automatic identification system ( #AIS ), a safety system to avoid collision, is often used for vessel tracking. By law, it has to be on all the time but in some cases can be turned off, e.g. under piracy threat. The issue here is that Spanish ⛴️ seem to routinely turn off AIS without good reason.
