New one on DA. Pulsatilla centres around idiophones — bells, vibraphones, crotales, hand-built plate reverb, cymbal sculptures, and a wide array of struck resonators — as well as digitally-rendered versions of these instruments via physical modelling synthesis.

Originally designed for seismic measurements, it can be used to capture faint vibrations in various materials and even soil, rock and now water

Four pieces written for just intonation, short pieces of improvisation are used as samples from which to re-compose. One note from the previous chord becomes to key center for the next chord, and becomes the root for the purposes of tuning the intervallic relationship in a just tuning.

Recorded in the mountains of north Wales utilising metallophones of the artists design. Our first release still very proud of this one. Expect a few more releases with very unusual instrumentation coming up.

Benning is a significant influence on my work as a musician, championing similar durational ideas of inhabitation of intangible media, while also exploring stillness and quiet as compositional devices. This re-scoring work pays tribute to the film I most deeply connect with ’Ten Skies’.
