A few #SOTA summits from last weekend as I struggled (but succeeded) to drive 12h round trip and activate all 7 summits in G/DC. It was mostly wet, miserable and windy! #hamradio

Does anyone have a recommendation for a simple GPS track recorder? I'm after a battery powered device that records GPX files (or similar) from a GPS module to an SD card. No cellular, etc, just simple local recording. Ideally a commercial product, not a bare PCB. Thanks!

Well, the first bug on the KX3 is fixed - no more ERR IOB - swapped out the IO expander B device after the thermal camera showed it getting hot for no reason. Came out fairly cleanly! Next job to check the RX path and update the firmware. #hamradio bsky.app/profile/m1ge...

Next job, fix this on a friend's Elecraft KX3 (and then sneak a SOTA activation in with it, you know, as a test!?) Looks to be related to the RF I/O board B. The radio is also deaf as a post, but seems to TX okay. Hmm. #hamradio

Finally got around to sorting out the ADIFs and logs from various portable jaunts around Europe over the past few months. Just need to get my EA8/M1GEO/P certificate (I missed requesting it previously) Quite a few nice confirmations, too.

This evening's setup in #POTA GB-5460 very close to work. Had to repair the 40m dipole after it was made into a temporary 20m dipole a year ago. 85 in the long in an hour, not too bad. Battery dying and hands cold, so now QRT. #hamradio

Decided to fault find my Yaesu FTM-500DE which was fine going into @Tesla but dead when returned. Suspect reverse polarity incident as radio blew 15A fuses. Snipped the 'idiot diode' and fixed fuses issue, but the radio was still dead. Turned out to be a fault with current sense resistor (0R47).

Today's #SOTA (GW/SW-001) and #POTA (GB-0996, maybe GB-1208?) was a hike up Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons! It was -2C & snowy! Got 13 in the log in the end on 2m FM, though more were calling. I had lost feeling in my fingers and feet, and decided I needed to move! Thanks for the QSOs! #hamradio
