Enjoyable bit of amateur radio from Long Melford Country Park earlier. 27 contacts (some CQWW WPX contest, some POTA) on 40m. Mix of usdx+ V2 SDR radio and Yaesu FT857 to a 1/2 wave dipole. Weird mix of weather, including some hail! #HAMR #POTA

Just worked my first station using my USDX+ V2 on 40m, a low EFHW into a 49:1 unun (bit of wire in the trees basically) and just the internal battery, so about 3-5w. Second call to M9IOC POTA station. #HAMR

Worked YT3NR and LZ1ZF on 20m with my new JPC PAC-12 antenna and 100w from my Yaesu FT857 in the garden. Conditions a bit up and down, hence the 100w, rather than QRP. #HAMR

My finger may have slipped on eBay yesterday... Treated myself to a portable HF radio antenna (that gets pretty good reviews) after my chemo session. I have the original version of the antenna, but this updated one is more sturdy and less DIY-looking. #HAMR

Update on starting chemo this week copied from a Facebook post I made yesterday. I think I covered most things.

This is what I've just had installed (pen included for scale 😂). Relatively painless and done under local anesthetic. Currently sitting in the x-ray department for them to check the placement of it is correct. Bloods have been taken. Ready for 1st chemo session tomorrow.

Damn my impatience! I went to dev the roll of Tri-x I shot in my Rolleiflex yesterday and realised I was out of developer. Mixed up some cafenol, but the negatives came out so thin that you could barely even see the edge markings! I could see small parts of each frame, so the camera is working. Grrr

I thought I'd broken my Rolleiflex after just a couple of rolls though it. Turns out that if you select a slow shutter speed (like 1/30th) whilst having say f/22 selected and then move to wider aperture, the shutter speed won't let you go any faster than 1/30th until you go to f/22 again. Capish?

Not a totally terrible result for my first try with my coffee can pinhole. Seeing that I don't really know what the size of the hole is and I also don't have a proper way of developing 5x7 paper (dev'd in a 1L Paterson tank. #BelieveInFilm
