As we write, DOGE is reportedly inside the gates of the IMLS (Institute for Museum and Library Services), where Keith Sonderling, Deputy Secretary of Labor and “somehow now Acting Director” of IMLS is dismantling the agency that helps libraries be libraries. /1

When I asked the media specialist how she felt when banned books were pulled from the shelves of the St. Francis High School library, she told me, “Each book I have had to remove crushes me inside.”

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government.
