CW: Gaslighting It frustrates me even more as a survivor being told by others what "real abuse" is and isn't. Too many still subscribe to the notion that only the physically devastating ones count. That only the most visible ones count.

I think one thing that frustrates me is that, while yes, I abhor violence, including political violence, it's astounding how much is glossed over and shrugged off as not being (political) violence... It also has a looooooooong history (see below).

If I say what I wanna say..... Anyway, there's an important chapter in "They Were Her Property" by Stephanie Jones-Rogers about the comfort white women in particular have violently policing the correctness of Black people existing in public. Either in location or presentation.

Highly underrated as a general way to be

I know it's hard to do but you have to tune out the constant & I mean constant torrent of criticisms on social media re: activism & organizing. If you don't, it can stop you from trying to do any activism or organizing. Most of the critics aren't doing any organizing themselves so keep trying things

What MAGA fears most is Black communities--not the rare individual Black conservative--from getting too much political and economic power. It has been this way since reconstruction, and will always be so. Everything will always be about this first, and women getting too much power second. Or both.

The protests yesterday reminded me of this movement. Seeing the recent corruption feels like a repeat of history. If you are in the Philippines, know that I am thinking of you. If you're taking part in the protests, know I am proud of you and wish for you and your loved ones to be safe. Ingat ka.

The protests took place yesterday, which was also the anniversary of declaration of martial law by Ferdinand Marcos, who is the father of the current president. He was known to also take tax payers money to fund his family's lifestyle. He was forced out in 1986 by the People Power Revolution.

Over the last day I've seen many videos of Filipinos protesting against corruption (within flooding projects) in the Philippines. Every time I see these videos, I feel emotional. I am so proud to see Filipinos participating. But also sad because of seeing years of corruption and injustice.
