Konnor Griffin coming up makes sense for the Pirates. His presence made it unrealistic for the team to try to find a free agent SS in the offseason to fill that glaring hole. Why sign a guy to be pushed aside so quickly? But that also means the team was without a real MLB SS.

I would suggest that MLB has made more significant changes to the game in the 2020s than we have seen in any decade since the 60s. (OK, maybe 70s if you include free agency). Pitch clock. Shift Ban. NL DH. ABS Challenge. Limiting pickoffs. Bigger bases. Expanded Wild Card Manfred Man.
