Use the materials you're hoarding. Use that cute pen, the fancy tape, one of the 40 notebooks. Draw with those alcohol markers before they dry up. Art materials are meant to be used, not gather dusts. "I'm afraid to waste it." Time spent using them = experience. And experience is never wasted.

I'm not big on New Year Resolutions, because I think most of us forget about them by the time February comes along. But I think I would like to make a new year... wish. A hope, maybe? I would like to draw more, even if what I draw is worse.

I'm having the same cunundrum I have every holiday: do I play this videogame I just bought (Dispach) or do I work on this art I've been meaning to finish (Shadowgast)? I will of course end up doing neither (and just watching Heated Rivalry and Critical Role C2 on repeat).

I like being an uncle for the holidays because: Mom and dad are responsible, and will discipline you. Grandpa and Grandma are indulgent, and will coddle you. But the uncle... the uncle is unpredictable. The niece and nephew cannot know what the uncle will do, because the soul of the uncle is CHAOS

Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

I'm glad people are not crucifying the artists at larian over this and directing the ire at management. I have oceans of knowledge of how the threat of genai is treated in the animation industry by rank and file artists and we would never be "more or less ok"

I'm old. If you're not, listen to this. Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder. Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever. It's literally never been more important.
