In Sweden, heading to ALT School of Theology in Örebro for a two-day conference on “future challenges in Pauline studies.” I’m doing a paper proposing a conversation between the ‘Paul within Judaism’ and ‘apocalyptic Paul’ perspectives. So I expect to come home having pleased nobody.

“Blue Monday” greetings to any fellow Bluesky-ers fighting Depression on this (supposedly) bluest of days. Mine has been particularly blue. But there will be other, less blue, days.

This week I'm teaching classes in Intro New Testament, Intermediate Greek, and Women in the New Testament, preaching an Epiphany sermon, and leading a diocesan study day on Luke's gospel. Research leave is definitely over.

Advent Sunday is probably my favourite day of the liturgical year. Christian faith in all its apocalyptic, parousianic, anticipatory beauty.

Back from SBL and straight into a double-header of speaking engagements at Princeton Theological Seminary (joining Lisa Bowens’ class on apocalyptic in Paul) and Cambridge (paper in the NT Seminar). Squeezing the last drop from my final weeks of research leave.

Over on the other place, an exciting appointment for us at Trinity College. Looking forward to working with Dr Abebe.
