Our second plenary session is underway, with a panel on Decolonising the New Testament Curriculum. #BNTS2025

This afternoon's simultaneous short papers are under way. In room 1 we have discussion of the historical Jesus in relation to Christian Zionism and enslavement, and in room 2 we have discussion of Codex H and the restoration of Israel in Mark. #BNTS2025

Our final paper comes from James Crossley, who is discussing the role of the Bible in the English uprising of 1381. #BNTS2025

I'm chairing our next session, which started with Cambry G Pardee on the reception history of the notion of the devil in disguise, and is continuing with U-Wen Low's analysis of Revelation and the body of Christ from the perspective of performance criticism. #BNTS2025

We're off to a great start in the new Reception, Critical Theory, and Interdisciplinary Studies seminar at #BNTS2025. @tdbiii.bsky.social chaired our first session, which featured papers on decolonising hospitality, positionally and applying Bakhtin to Romans.

📣 Seminar Spotlight: Synoptic Gospels This seminar group provides a context for the open discussion of the content, contexts, formation, and theology of the Synoptic Gospels from a variety of hermeneutical and methodological perspectives.

📣 Seminar Spotlight: Reception, Critical Theory, & Interdisciplinary Studies This new seminar group invites research that analyses New Testament reception from antiquity to the present and/or focusses on the application of critical theory to the study of the New Testament.

📣 Seminar Spotlight: Paul For 2025, the Paul seminar (chaired by Andy Boakye and @ryancollman.bsky.social) will host three sessions - two on gender and sexuality and a third open call.

📣 Seminar Spotlight: Later Epistles The chairs (@kelsbot.bsky.social and Nick Moore) welcome proposals on Hebrews, the Catholic Epistles, the Deutero-Pauline Epistles, and other early Christian letters. This year we particularly welcome papers with a focus on any aspect of these texts’ reception.
