I’m amazed by how my infant, at 3.5 months old, already understands social cues. It’s dark and we’re being very quiet, so she’s quiet. In the morning it’s bright, so she giggles with glee. When we frown, she gets all sad. Amazing.

I'm more excited about Interop 2026 than I am about State of React results or new React features.

Sabbaths are a good pattern, and more teams should build breathing room into their production schedules. Time for reflection, repentance, recentering, and redirecting. Unfortunately, that requires slowing down, which is all but forbidden in the current capitalistic climate.

Weird observation, but I love it when I listen to an playlist that I haven’t listened to in a long time, and then it goes to playing that playlist’s radio station and I hear songs that I haven’t heard in a long time because I only hear them when I listen to that playlist’s radio station.

While I think it's best to learn how to learn just-in-time, sometimes it's good to learn things just because. You might make unexpected connections. You might uncover unknown unknowns which come in handy later. Or you might just find it entertaining.

This might be trite, but in my opinion, the best cure for imposter syndrome is vulnerability, transparency, and accountability. Being vulnerable is an invitation for others to do so, and then we can learn how the folks we think have it all together are in fact just as hopeless as we are 😅

I, for one, am glad that the browser wars are over. Interop is a much better solution for cross-browser compatibility than slapdash API design and daring your competitor to copy the API.

I love this. I'm really excited to see UI component libs show up that shrug off extra JavaScript, now that there's so much that browsers can do on their own. Both of these are great examples of doing that.

I feel like a lot of automations folks are doing with agents can probably be done mostly by shell scripts in a more deterministic fashion. Maybe just use a LLM for some categorization, instead of to do the whole thing.

Kids are knowledge sponges that just love learning about novel topics. The kinds of things that might seem boring or mundane to you are thrilling and novel to kids. All you need is some good questions and a good demo.

Um... What? This is awesome because a) Brandon gets full creative input and b) Apple TV is a phenomenal studio these days. This is still preliminary (in Sanderson's own words, this would be step 3 of 8), but exciting!

The Pit of Success is great... until it isn't. Climbing back out can be a pain. Instead of "too good to be true" batteries included packages that fall short in some way, what if we intentionally worked to understand the tradeoffs of choices. Maybe its better to dig the pit of success ourselves.

Every decision has tradeoffs. Defaults are important. Not everything is a silver bullet. There is no one right way, and arguments can be made even for _wrong_ ways. But being intentional about our choices is always a good move.

A summary of a conversation I had about optimizing. Everything is a tradeoff! Some tradeoffs are more valuable than others.

I hope I am never accused of being apathetic, stuck in my ways, and passive about my learning. Our world has many ills, but many of them would be improved by having more curiosity and wonder.

What can I say, I really like RFCs. Naturally they need some rigor — a bit of research, good arguments, counters to common objections, etc. — but the end result supports the decision, while providing context for eventually changing course later on. Good things all around!
