In the fall, a group called Literary Portland for Palestine asked Portland Book Festival to divest from Wells Fargo sponsorship funding. They've since grown into a collective working to raise awareness. And because they're a literary organization, they're doing it with poems.

Phoebe’s back, so Friends is back on the TV. She isn’t named after Phoebe Buffay (rather Alice Notley’s “Phoebe Light” and the bird, the Black phoebe), but when we adopted her the foster said that she seemed to like the show and it’s always seemed true.

Kim Soo-young’s early verses, shaped by Existentialism, explored love. After the April Revolution and a U.S.-backed dictatorship in South Korea, his poetry confronted oppression and social injustice. Today, his voice resonates anew amid worldwide struggles for freedom.

The pool is closed for repairs until the 19th. On my way to the office, Anna called and said we got a text from the foster who said it isn’t working out. I turned around and drove back home.

Today is our first full day without Phoebe. Lilee with the thick glasses and sturdy presence came to pick her up in a Jeep 4x4 yesterday afternoon. Anna and I cried and then sobbed and then cried again, then ate Thai food and watched an entire season of a British lesbian reality TV show.
