Actually I think "trans rights" are a bad concept in the first place because "Trans" isn't a well defined category, in much the same way that "Gay rights" is not about the right to be gay, it's about the right to have societies understanding of romantic relationships contain no reference to gender

Ultimately I think this is the problem with the transgender health debate. All of the evidence kind of sucks, and so the conclusions people draw are dictated primarily by their priors. Naturally everyone involved in the debate has strong priors in one direction or the other.

Continuing to be annoying: Having looked at quite a lot of the papers on trans healthcare the primary problem with people arguing against it is that they are privileging non-intervention. This is a default attitude in psychiatry and not a justified one. However the clinical evidence is in fact crap
