I have never understood the expression “A hit dog will holler.” Why are we hitting dogs? And yes, of course if you inflict pain on a dog (or any animal) it will cry out. Why are we taking this as an indicator of guilt?

I myself have mixed feelings about whatever the new Firefly thing is that's coming up (I think that ship sailed 20 years ago and they should leave it be), but I am so, so sad that my beloved friend Frank died before he could learn this news. He loved Firefly so much and would have been thrilled.

I have reached the point in my night shifts when my legs feel weird and don't want to hold still. It's so very fucking annoying.

My roommate and I have started re-watching Farscape, and I've been re-watching Earth: Final Conflict (one has aged much better than the other, ngl). I had forgotten there was a period of a few years when the opening sequence of sifi shows had a voiceover that gave you the show's elevator pitch. 😆

I wonder who came up with the expression "silly goose." Geese in my experience are not so much silly as they are constantly angry and often violent. Then again, I live in Canada. Are English geese inherently sillier than your average Canada Goose?
