Hier nochmal ein Blick auf das rekordverdächtig heiße Wochenende mit vielen "40ern" in der MOS-Vorhersage. Vor allem Samstag und Sonntag nehmen die Unsicherheiten aber zu. Hitzegewitter und die damit verbundenen Böenfronten und Wolkenfelder können die Temperaturen regional deutlich drücken. #Hitze

Auch wenn es für den deutschen Allzeitrekord nicht reicht, ist die #Hitzewelle historisch, für den Juni ohnehin. Dass fast ganz Deutschland unter einer extremen #Hitzewarnung liegt, ist ein Novum.

Can’t say I recall ever seeing this before. More than half of France’s 30+ year-old weather stations set/tied their monthly high-temperature record in May 2026. Some did so as many as 9 times. Unprecedented to witness this level of heat so early in the year.

Forecast profiles for tomorrow afternoon/evening indicate the potential of low-topped supercells in an environment with marginal CAPE and strong shear. Slightly curved hodographs and low cloud base hint at the risk of a short-lived tornado, if low-level CAPE will be sufficient.

Still bit early for detailed forecast. But: models pointing to a classic High-Shear-Low-Cape environment on Thu. Moderately unstable air from Biscay, strong shear, both deep layer and low level, including helicity and low LCLs. Wouldn't be surprised by a few #tornados in Benelux and Germany!

The #supercell showed strong rotation, with the mesocyclone having a very low base at times. With a bit of imagination, one can make out something reminding one of a TVS. At least a brief #tornado appears to have been possible, as supported by a few reports (unfortunately without photos).

An extremely long-lasting #supercell was observed yesterday in Central Europe. It traveled 600 km over 12 hours, from Enschede (Netherlands) through Central Germany to south of Prague (Czech Republic), producing large hail up to 3 cm.
