First run of the year for Claverton Pumping Station today. So great to get it running again after a long winter maintenance period. Smoothest it has run for a few years.

Lots of jet fuel related panic on BBC News. Fuel shortage apparently means we need to change a bunch of rules to stop flights leaving half empty. Thereby wasting fuel. Now we know it is possible, we can do that for the climate too.

We've just moved the @openflexure.bsky.social handbook from LaTeX to @typst.app. As a huge LaTeX fan for many years, Typst really is the dream. It's LaTeX, but less 1980s. Cleaner syntax, better scripting. Still a few things to perfect, but what a great tool.

We need a "slow computing" movement, the digital equivalent of "slow food". We need to code better, with human care and attention to details, with true understanding of technology, achieving better performance with fewer resources. We can do more with less if we believe in it.
