Our first Día de los Muertos event is next weekend, on November 1-2 with the Zoo staying open later until 9:30pm. At the heart of the event is a traditional ofrenda (altar) created to honor animals who are no longer with us like our beloved jaguar Tesoro. 💚 (1/2)

🎶 Woaaaaaahohohohohhhhhhhhhhh 🎶 We had a WICKED good time celebrating our sea lions, Cali and Kamia's 21st birthday this week. Cali is described as sweet and forgiving with being a lighter blonde color. While Kamia is described as intense and intelligent and darker in color.

Our sea lion birthday celebrations continue! 🥳 Max (8) and TJ (9) celebrated their birthday with the iciest cakes prepped by their team! Max got a "Gatorade" cake because one of his nicknames is "Max-a-gator" or "Gator." While TJ got a beautiful 🦋 dream cake to match her beautiful personality.

It's a boy! We’re thrilled to welcome a new eastern bongo calf to the Houston Zoo family! Born June 25 and weighing 46 pounds, this little guy is healthy and will be named very soon. He's staying close to mom Bernadette, and getting to know his herd. Read more: bit.ly/4knDi0N
