This is very profound because it applies to all games, but it is also why I encourage new players to netdeck. If you lose often with a homebrew, there are too many variables. If you use a deck (or team in Pokemon) that's proven to win, you immediately know where to improve.

I think some people may be missing the forest for the trees. No one is saying that replicating another artists work is good, but I think there is a difference in a newer artist who has done a few cards stealing art, and an 80 year old man who has contributed some of the most iconic art in the game.

MAGIC CON VEGAS IS THIS WEEKEND @peachypopcos.bsky.social and I have a Meet and Greet from 10:30 to Noon on Friday in Creator Central, and Saturday I'll be watching the Cosplay Contest and screaming any time Peachy does literally anything. Friday is also my birthday and you HAVE to buy me a drink!

For all of my Magic friends who think that Magic has the worst and dumbest discourse, competitive Pokémon is currently having discourse over whether or not you should be allowed to concede the game.

I may not be the greatest Pokémon player, but I am at least very good at nicknaming them.

FINAL RESULT: I slipped near the end of the day and ended with a record of 4 wins and 5 losses. Definitely a little disappointed, but this is the first time I've played a full day tournament in YEARS, and this result STILL puts me in the top 25% of players in a 6200 (!!) player tournament!

Update: I'm not 4-3 which means I'm out of the running for day 2. Sad my run is over but very happy with how much improvement I'm seeing! I'm going to play out my last rounds for the experience and the placement and see where I can land.

UPDATE: Currently 4-2, meaning I'm not only still in the running for day 2, but I also beat my record at the last Regional I played in! Win or lose, I'm incredibly happy with how I've been playing and the improvements I've been seeing. Now to spike 3 in a row!
