Happy New year! Here’s to 2025 with some of the work I did for clients and exhibitions. I’ve still got work I can’t show yet but soon such as the illustrations I made for a book which is coming this year.

Not quite Christmassy but something that made me more optimistic for next year while looking at the images I’ve created in the past. this is an illustration that was made for LostinCult’s Console Chronicles for an article about Animal Crossing

New work for Science Focus on an article about social anxiety and maybe there are other elements to it which affect people who suffer from public spaces.

Getting cold out there so here a shoutout to last year when I made this poster for Terror Twos. For this poster I wanted to go with giving the feeling that the creature was thawing from its ice tomb.

With the Slime Rancher 2 exhibition now open, I can now show off my piece for the show, I wanted to capture the feel of the adventure since this is a new island for the player to explore Thanks to @gallerynucleus and @monomi_park for the chance to make something for this

Got round to updating my portfolio showing off some new work that I have worked on recently. From the reveal of the lands cards I did for Magic the Gathering to the cover illustration for Science Focus, it’s now up on my website scottbalmervectors.co.uk

When it comes to making roughs I always do them like this since colours play a large role in what I do and I like to think what they may be for the final, I’m pretty playful when making them since I more interested in capturing the overall idea than adding in details.

Looking back to the first illustration I made in Affinity Designer while figuring out how things tick to one of the last illustrations I had worked on within Designer. It’s come a long way to get to here but there is still a need to keep pushing forward #madeinaffinity

With the end of @secret7s I can now finally reveal my sleeve cover design based on the Scissor Sisters song Return to Oz Secret 7 was a one off exhibition with artwork presented on record sleeves based on a small selection of songs and with all proceeds going to War Child

Here’s a breakdown of the Fahrenheit 451 piece showing off the wireframes and it without any shading or textures. I tend to keep things clean and to break down composition into elements to keep things readable before working on the finer details and shading
