Got round to updating my portfolio showing off some new work that I have worked on recently. From the reveal of the lands cards I did for Magic the Gathering to the cover illustration for Science Focus, it’s now up on my website scottbalmervectors.co.uk

When it comes to making roughs I always do them like this since colours play a large role in what I do and I like to think what they may be for the final, I’m pretty playful when making them since I more interested in capturing the overall idea than adding in details.

Looking back to the first illustration I made in Affinity Designer while figuring out how things tick to one of the last illustrations I had worked on within Designer. It’s come a long way to get to here but there is still a need to keep pushing forward #madeinaffinity

With the end of @secret7s I can now finally reveal my sleeve cover design based on the Scissor Sisters song Return to Oz Secret 7 was a one off exhibition with artwork presented on record sleeves based on a small selection of songs and with all proceeds going to War Child

Here’s a breakdown of the Fahrenheit 451 piece showing off the wireframes and it without any shading or textures. I tend to keep things clean and to break down composition into elements to keep things readable before working on the finer details and shading
