Day 97 of #100DaysofHorror: Birthrite (2025). Hannah let Steven pick from the remaining movies on their to-watch list, and this was the result. A pregnant woman and her wife move to a community full of child-stealing witches.

Day 96 of #100DaysofHorror: The Man in My Basement (2025). A Black man agrees to rent his basement to a very creepy Willem Dafoe. I haven't been able to put my finger on a more detailed plot, but the atmosphere is great so far.

Day 95 of #100DaysofHorror: Fright Night (2011). The original is good, but this is my favorite.

Well that was silly but delightful. Imagine a long episode of Goosebumps with better production values. 7/10

Day 94 of #100DaysofHorror: Brainscan (1994). Edward Furlong is a troubled teenager who discovers he's killing people via a video game. It is, as Steven noted, not dissimilar to "that series you like by the Mormon," ie, Ender's Game.

Day 93 of #100DaysofHorror: If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (2025). GUYS. I am so glad I was traveling to a city where this was showing, because it didn't get a wide release but it is so, so good. Rose Byrne is a mother with an absent husband, a medically complex child, and a home with water damage.

Day 92 of #100DaysofHorror: I Spit on Your Grave (2010). This was a very faithful remake and made good use of evolving technology (I was very impressed with the use of a home video camera). The ending definitely doesn't pack the same punch as the Valkyrie in the motor boat in the original.

Day 91 of #100DaysofHorror: Brute 1976 (2025). The review I read of this wasn't particularly glowing, but 🤷🏼‍♀️. It's a sort of TCM knockoff, to the point that the characters have already referenced that movie by name. As an aside, I'm very grateful to be down to the last 10 days. I'm tired of movies.

Day 90 of #100DaysofHorror: Flight 666 (2018). I fly tomorrow, so tonight I'm watching a plane disaster movie as a way to cope with my flying anxiety. It's very reassuring to hit some turbulence and think "no matter what happens, the plane isn't possessed by a demon lady"

Day 79 of #100DaysofHorror: Jimmy and Stiggs (2025). An out of work filmmaker with some severe substance issues calls an estranged friend to help him fend off an alien invasion. I love Christmas Bloody Christmas, Joe Begos' last movie, but I didn't like the one before that and I HATE this, so

Day 78 of #100DaysofHorror: The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025). A woman on a luxury cruise begins to suspect that a passenger in the next cabin has drowned, or perhaps never existed. I haven't read the book so I'm going in blind on this one.

This looks precisely like a cat I used to have, and she definitely would have fucked up a little face hugger

Day 77 of #100DaysofHorror: In Vitro (2025). Set on a failing cattle farm, where a failing man in a failing marriage experiments with breeding techniques and fails again.

Day 76 of #100DaysofHorror: Alone in the Dark (1982). This is sort of a wild premise for a home invasion: a group of mental hospital patients break out and go to find the new doctor whom they hate.

If you're looking for a little true crime, give this a try instead of Monster: Ed Gein. This is less exploitative and better made. 9/10

Day 75 of #100DaysofHorror: The Girl With the Needle (2025). This Danish period piece is about an impoverished woman who finds herself unhoused, widowed, and pregnant during World War I.

There's a recent trend (well, at least two movies) that end just as the big conflict with the main antagonist begins. I do NOT like it. 4/10

Day 74 of #100DaysofHorror: Dark Match (2025). A wrestling troupe takes a gig at a venue run by a cult, led by actual wrestler Chris Jericho.

Day 73 of #100DaysofHorror: The Calendar Killer (2025). A serial killer warns his victims of the date he will kill them. A woman calls a "walk me home" hotline (is this a real thing?) and tells the operator she has received a message that the Calendar Killer will kill her or her husband tonight.

This was an absolute BLAST. The director's first film was Spoonful of Sugar, which we both loved, so it tracks that this was a lot of fun. If you've seen a lot of movies or are a fairly savvy viewer, you won't find the twist very surprising, but that doesn't mean that the movie as a whole isn't fun.

Day 71 of #100DaysofHorror: Bystanders (2024). A trio of girls go to a party at an isolated cabin with some frat boys. The results are predictable... Until they're not. I've been wanting to watch this for a long time and I'm glad it finally came up on the List.

Day 70 of #100DaysofHorror: Brick (2025). A German movie about apartment tenants who wake up to discover an impenetrable magnetic wall has encased the building. Echoes of King's Under the Dome and the movie Await Further Instructions. I love movies like this, and this lived up to my hopes.

I quite liked this, although I was hoping for more horror elements. It's one of the best examples of a kill the husband movie for sure. 7/10

Did NOT like despite enjoying gender stuff. It was all over the place and not a single person was likeable or even relatable. 3/10

This one was sort of disappointing. Beautiful visuals, and the actors did well (especially Marlon Wayans), but the plot felt underdeveloped and the pacing was off. Still overall a fun watch, if flawed. 5.5/10
