Despite a ruling β over a decade ago β that storing images of arrested people who were innocent of any crimes is unlawful, the police have continued to retain and use these images, including for their unregulated, unaccountable facial recognition searches.

Book of the week here at Rubicund: Recognising the Stranger, on Palestine and Narrative by Isabella Hammad, is a powerful exploration of the decolonial possibilities of narrative. A short and timely read for days when the world feels on fire.
