So here's something new for me. Yesterday I thought it'd be a fun idea to try and make a 3D model of a proposed mission that ultimately never was. Now I don't have any experience with modelling spacecraft in 3D, so I don't expect myself to be able to finish this, but at least I'm making an attempt.

Ok so the power went out earlier this evening, promptly plunging our neighborhood into darkness, only for the power to return about 5 minutes later. I have no idea what the hell even just happened, or why it happened lmao.

I’m a firm believer that we need to return to the ice giants. Both planets have only been visited by one spacecraft in the 1980’s, and there’s still a whole slew of things we don’t know about these giant, icy, pale blue marbles, and their systems of rings and moons.

Don’t you hate it when college and life drag you away from your hobbies, and whenever they don’t, you sometimes lack the motivation to even work on anything, and end up just procrastinate for no reason? Yeah it’s annoying.

Today in 1979, Pioneer 11 passed Saturn, viewing the night side of the rings, giving humanity its first encounter with the planet and its moons. It would be followed by Voyager 1 in 1980 and Voyager 2 in 1981.

Saturn from the approaching Voyager 2 on August 23, 1981. This image utilizes a methane filter for the red channel, which is closer to true red than the orange filter usually used for Voyager red (it was largely red-blind). This set really brought out atmospheric detail.

I’m not gonna do anything special for the 80th anniversary, since I don’t have the time, nor enough resources to make something special, so I think I’ll just do a simple screenshot perhaps.
