Beijing Diaries: Visit to Lama Temple in the morning before crowd increased was nice. Temple complex has practicing monks on premises. The temple complex was palace to an emperor >250 years ago who gave it to be converted into Buddhist temple which is active even today.

Beijing Diaries: Had a busy day visiting Lama Temple in the morning & spending all afternoon at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital Getting ready to speak at the Capital Medical University in Beijing on Sept 2nd.

Beijing Diaries: I thought being vegetarian may be tough. I was wrong, again in Beijing, students took me a vegetarian only restaurant in hip area for dinner. Each dish artistically arranged was beautiful to eyes & tasty to eat. ‘Taste fresh food in the clouds’ - dish at center!

Beijing Diaries: I thought I was bad - ‘to text while walking’, but when I saw someone ‘texting while riding a bicycle on a busy street in Beijing’, I don’t feel that bad. That is why I am texting this while walking. 😂

Beijing Diaries: Call it ‘beer diplomacy’ or whatever, beer transcends language. Went into a small bar near the hotel, sipping beer when the father of the bar gave me ‘peanuts & beans’ as snack & all it took for a welcome smile on his part - we had photos to prove! “Smile has no boundaries!”
