First book of 2026 - Katabasis by RF Kuang. A fascinating concept and Kuang's prose is always great but this left a few things to be desired in terms of pacing and the world building, in my view.

We just watched Wake Up Dead Man. Firstly - I would let Josh O'Connor do unspeakable things to me. Secondly - I actually think that was my favourite of the Knives Out movies, even though I'd seen a lot of middling reviews.

I read 43 books this year - not the most I've ever done but I deliberately tried to read longer books this year rather than aiming for a numerical target. These were some particular highlights!
