It is absolutely the role of local councils to be doing what they can to tackle climate change, support green initiatives and to promote equality and diversity in our communities. It's a complete dereliction of duty to our residents, now and in the future to suggest otherwise.

There is an alternative to ever more cuts. A wealth tax of just 2% on those with assets over £10 million would raise £24 BILLION! Let's tax extreme wealth, not punish the poorest.

I believe the proposed cuts to disability welfare are wrong. They'll push thousands of the most vulnerable further into the margins & into poverty. The Government needs to look at things differently. The promised change needs to be more than a red hand holding the scissors instead of a blue one.

So far, the growth of for-profit social landlords has done very little to make up low levels of social housebuilding, while allowing stock market firms & asset managers to access public funding for social housing. Public funding for public housing is the best route forward. 🧵
