I have long been intrigued by the story, "The Death of Bloody Mary" by gretch_villa on instagram, and wanted to try my hand at painting the character Mary in all her crimson splendor. Speaking of which, I may have also been a little inspired by a recent rewatch of my favorite film — "Crimson Peak" 👀

I recently discovered new reference materials, and it's upped my pose game so much! I highly recommend Obscura 29 photo reference packs over on artstation (I'll link it in the comments) Other great reference tools I've been using recently are BJD dolls for poses and DND miniatures for environments

Tip for rendering realistic hair highlights: 1. Use a fur brush 2. Soft erase both ends to blend it into the hair color 3. Soft erase pieces in the middle to create depth 4. Liquify the new highlight to flow with the hair Sorry for the awful video quality. I don't know how to make it better🫠
