And… How are we going to organise and deal with the worsened isolation, microagressions and exclusion that will inevitably come from the shift away from any focus on DEI? Because it was already, well, pretty hellish for BIPOC and many others. But I fear now harm will just be emboldened more.

How are people dealing with extreme bouts of low confidence? Is there an authentic-sounding bot yet that can give you evidence-based pep talks yet?

And I am once again reminding fellow leaders that if you need to be within centimetres of screen-peering distance to “know your employees are working” that, hunnies, is a ✨you✨ problem.

I’m seeing a lot “return to office mandates are not feasible for parents”. Yes, this. And, there are many, many folks they’re not feasible for. People with disabilities, when workplaces don’t have decent accessibility. People who face continual microagressions that were worse IRL. Caregivers.

Whew. The combination of my angel Mum’s birthday, grief, SAD in the gloomy, cold, lonely times, and the news feeling more “dystopian doom if-only-it-was-satire” by the day has my mental health feeling like a frayed cheesestring.

At this rate, this will be the year that I write a blog.

After about 20 years of therapy, on and off, I was about ready to give up thinking “I” was the problem why I’d never had this game-changing therapy people speak of. My new EMDR therapist has been amazing. Note to anyone blaming themselves for struggling: try a new therapist if it’s not working.

How are people of colour coping with #SeasonalAffectiveDisorder? My Vitamin D levels are tested and fine, due to supplementing, before someone suggests. It’s reaching the point where I need to rethink where I spend winter. 2-3pm darkness isn’t it.

Most people will never know what it feels like to open an app just to check the news or chat with friends & instantly be met with the most racist, dehumanizing commentary u ever saw. Imagine the impact that shit has on black mental health. Any they really thought we’d stay and tolerate it. Gtfoh

It’s mostly white people who talk about echo chambers. Maybe you need the internet to meet people with different ideas but the rest of us do not. We know what the “other side” thinks because we deal with it every day! Everywhere! We’re fine. Carry on. Happy Saturday!

I think a lot of this “echo chamber” patter is rooted in the expectation on oppressed folks to endlessly educate people to be less hateful and harmful. And I believe a space where, say, Black folks can try and distance themselves from rampant racists is just fine. Actually.

I’m not saying that seeing founder of the cybertruck’s design principles posted as a “genius playbook” on the professh app was the point I knew it was time to give Bluesky a proper go. But, subconsciously, I’m not not saying that.

I’ve missed being able to be to post a chaotic stream of content, tarot, pasta, crystals, social justice, equity, small joke consciousness without the bizarre formatting and hollow energy of the worky blue app.

Since I’ve not been Tweeting, I’ve been perfecting my tarot skills and have done about a bazillion courses with amazing tarot legends. Currently finalising my advanced practitioner certification. And this sky app looks like the kind of place one could do random tarot pulls, right? Right?

Really want to refine a super-talk on inclusive design and content for next year. But there is so much to cover and it’s so hard to not include screaming in the form of a collective plea.

So curious to see the latest discourse on a UX conference in the UK that was called out for offering white speakers a fee and telling BIPOC speakers they had no budget. For the same conference.
