It has been a fruitful day for our OPTICS group meeting with collaborators across disciplines and from around the world, ambitiously aiming to elucidate the role of microplastics as risk factors of IBD, specifically regarding the yet unexplained segmental intestinal inflammation of Crohn’s disease.

Laparoscopic surgery is generally believed to have a lower risk of adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes than open surgery. Linéa Bonfils defended her PhD thesis During her research, she found 1) multi-organ involvement in IBD up to 10 years prior to diagnosis; 2) paternal IBD to be almost as great a risk factor for IBD as maternal IBD during pregnancy, and 3) date of diagnosis in the Danish health registers to be valid
